The internet was buzzing last week with video showing a strange sea creature recorded by an ROV more than a mile down.

The video appears to show a strange creature swimming and undulating in front of the camera. At one point in the video the creature seems to turn itself inside out and strange white organs appear in the camera's field of view.

According to deep-sea expert Dr. Steven Haddock, a scientist for the Monterey Bay Aquarium, "this is a deepwater Jellyfish known as "Deepstaria Enigmatica"- pretty straightforward!" This deepwater jellyfish, first described in 1967, is characterized by a very thin and wide "bell" which can be up to 60cm wide.
