Quest for the Crest Series

There have been many memorable highlights in the history of the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series since its inception seven years ago. From locations and schedule, to prize structure, hospitality and promotion, the focus has always been on delivering a first-class event for all involved. Heading into the 2019 season, that focus will not change. From exciting new promotions and giveaways to elevated prize structures, date and location changes, there is a lot for teams to get excited about this season!

By popular demand, the 2019 series is returning to its original three-leg format with events spanning from January to April and locations from West Palm Beach to Miami. When it comes to a hot bite, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. The peak of sailfish season off West Palm Beach, Florida is in the heart of January and that is exactly where Operation Sailfish, leg 1 of the series, will fall on January 16-20.

“Success comes from being a good listener,” said Jamie Bunn, director of the series. “We know our teams want to be in prime locations where the probability of great fishing is the highest and we are extremely grateful to our host venue, Sailfish Resort & Marina, for helping to make that happen.”

As the sailfish migrate south in February, it’s hard to predict where the largest concentration of fish may be. The bite has the potential to be on fire from West Palm Beach all the way down to Miami. The Sailfish Challenge, leg 2 of the series held on February 20-24, takes advantage of that scenario by offering teams the option to compete out of 3 inlets – Government Cut in Miami, Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach and Lake Worth Inlet in West Palm Beach. In addition to its signature 3-inlet format, a recently added ‘Coin Challenge’ has created a buzz by way of a unique format that allows teams to compete together in groups. Also new for 2019, the Sailfish Challenge kickoff party will return to the home base for its charity, the International Game Fish Association. “We are proud to be ambassadors for the IGFA and help promote their mission and new initiatives as they embark on their 80th anniversary in 2019,” said Jamie Bunn.

With the return to three legs, Final Sail, the grand finale of the series has been relocated back to its original location in Miami with dates set for April 3-7 at host venue, DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay. Springtime sailfishing off Miami has the potential to be as good as you will find anywhere in the world. Twenty to thirty fish days are not uncommon, not to mention the abundance of countless other pelagics as well. If the conditions line up, anglers will get exactly what they are all in search of – a grand finale of epic proportion!

With prime dates and prime locations secured, what else could teams ask for? How about the opportunity to compete for the single largest payout in the history of any sailfish tournament! Does the chance to win $300,000 on a $1,000 bet sound enticing? That is exactly what will be at stake at the first leg of the series, for teams that decide to throw their hat in the ring and compete for the record-setting jackpot in a category called the Release Roundup. There are four rounds of fishing in this signature category. In each round, a number is pulled between one and six. The number pulled designates the minimum number of sailfish a team must release in that round in order to advance to the next round. The process repeats itself through four half-day rounds and no number can be drawn more than once. It’s a winner take all format for the team that goes the distance and wins the whole enchilada!

Participation in all three legs of the series is not required. However, new for 2019, there are some great perks available to teams that sign up for all three tournaments. For starters, a new ‘Triple Play’ promotion offers a $1,000 entry fee discount to any team that registers for all three tournaments by December 19. In addition, there are grand prize giveaways up for grabs at the end of the season to teams that compete in all three legs of the series. And here’s the best part…there are no strings attached! Simply sign up for all three tournaments in the series and your team will be in contention for these incredible giveaways:
  • Grizzly cooler package valued at over $600
  • Tigress kite fishing package valued at $1,000
  • Complete set of shades for your team from Costa sunglasses
  • $1,000 shopping spree at Bass Pro Shops
  • Resorts World Bimini VIP weekend for 4 including airfare, lodging, spa credit and casino play
  • 3-year lease on a 2019 RAM 1500 crew cab truck courtesy of Joey Accardi Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Pompano Beach
  • $5,000 drawing
Clearly, a menu of exciting new changes and additions has set the table for what will be a fantastic season in the 2019 Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series. All you need to do is decide what you’re going to order – one, two or all three tournaments! Whichever you choose one thing is certain…..the service, experience and flavor will be five star from start to finish!
