Greetings everyone, and I hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth of July holiday. We have been pretty busy lately when we've been able to get out. This has been one of the roughest summers I can remember on record. A lot of wind and a lot of thunderstorms have kept us at the dock more than we typically see in June. The good news is that this appears to be another banner year for mahi. There have been lots of grasslines offshore and plenty of mahi action to go with them. While the tunas have been a little slow, the swords and blue marlin have more than made up for it. I haven't quite experienced the slow tuna fishing most have; but in my defense, I have been running in excess of 100 miles to find the tunas-an option certainly limited to overnight trips. This is a great time of year to fish, as live bait is easy to find, and the runs to the ripline have been short. This tropical system developing in the gulf as I type looks to push the blue water much closer in, as some recent west wind has pushed things a little further offshore.

I have about six weeks to fish before school starts back, and then my availability will become very limited. The fishing has been reasonably close to Orange Beach/Dauphin Island in the last few weeks, and as a result, I have steered a lot of guys pulling their boats over from Florida to those destinations in lieu of Venice. You have a few miles further run overall, but it is significantly closer by vehicle than going to Venice, and the scenery is much better upon getting back to the dock. Same goes for my guys coming from the West-we have run a lot of trips out of Grand Isle this summer and the tuna have been a little better down that way. Venice has been underwater for several months now and I'm sure this tropical system won't help things.

Remember, I give referrals. So if someone new books with me and mentions your name, I'll give you $100 cash for the referral. Thanks for your business, and I look forward to fishing with some of yall soon.
