Fellow Anglers,

After a slow start to the week the last couple of days have shown some really decent fishing. Seas are still rough and breezy in the Galapagos with waters averaging 73F. Striped marlin have again shown up on 0-30 Bank between Santa Cruz and San Cristobal islands. Manta was slow to begin the week but last couple of days with excellent currents and water temperatures all the way down to Salinas there have been blue and striped marlin present. There has been some good wahoo action out of Salinas and Manta as well. No tuna or wahoo reported this week in the Galapagos but no one has targeted them.

Galapagos Islands
Santa Cruz Island:
August 10, 2018– Thanks to Nicolass Schiess for sharing his latest report aboard the Tesoro Galapagos. Captain Schiess reported raising 8 striped marlin on 0-30 Bank. Seas were breezy and choppy. They had no luck landing any fish as the sea conditions made it difficult but it was nice to know there are still fish there.

August 11, 2018– Captain Gus Hernandez onboard On The Hook went to do more testing with the LP 1200 electric reel deep dropping just 5 miles from port in 600 feet of water. He caught 3 very nice groupers from 50 to 75 lbs in three hours of fishing before returning to port.

Ecuador
Manta:
August 9, 2018– Fishing began to pick up with good conditions. Pangas from nearby town of San Mateo reported 1 to 3 bites of striped and blue marlin.

August 10, 2018– Panga Explorer went 1/2 on blue marlin fishing near Isla de la Plata. Panga Don Mario went 1/3 on striped marlin fishing North of Manta. Panga Geronimo went 2/5 on striped marlin fishing North of Manta. Panga Don Teofilo went 0/1 on striped marlin.

August 11, 2018– Excellent current and water conditions turned the bit on with Panga Mazinger reporting going 2/3 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin just North of Manta 22 miles. Panga Mi Bendicion reported fighting a fish over 800 lbs for the better part of 3 hours before breaking it off and caught a striped marlin.

Salinas:
August 9, 2018– a local boat went 3/4 on striped marlin. Carolina went 7/13 on wahoo fishing a Bank 25 miles North of Salinas.

August 10, 2018– a boat from the Salinas Yacht Club went 1/2 on striped marlin.

Team Ecuagringo is heading to Cabo Blanco, Peru the next few days for photos, video and tackle check. We will continue to develop Peru and will be bringing you more information soon. Cabo Blanco is a wonderful destination because of the history, beaches and terrific seafood. The potential for a good striped and blue marlin bite offshore is there known. The local black marlin fishing still needs work but as we get more and more charters more information will come to light of when to target them.
