Mate Andrea McQuade was the first to realize that the swivel connecting the wind-on to the short leader had opened, and straightened out during the fight. The leader was only hanging on by several millimeters of metal. Captain Josh Temple only had one shot to wire the fish and in his own words, "Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!"
